When a floorcovering to a busy commercial kitchen is ready for changing, it is imperative the slip resistance, chemical resistance and longevity of the product is considered carefully.
The old flooring was ripped up and disposed of.
The floor area was degreased and a smoothing compound was used to level the floor and smooth out the poor condition of the substrate. Polyflor apex was used, a 2.5mm thick R12 safety floor.
In a busy environment, risk of cooking oil, margarine and fat spillages will create a dangerous and slippy floor if the incorrect flooring is installed. The flooring we installed meets EN13845 which meets a stringent pendulum test of 50,000 cycles to simulate foot traffic over a length of time. For staff in a kitchen or catering areas, safety is paramount, and walking on oil products will retain a slip resistance on foot-to floor contact. This flooring has the aggregate installed throughout the product and will retain the high slip Resistance throughout it’s life. Once installed, the joints to the flooring are heat welded we a coloured weld to make sure the flooring remains hygienic and impermeable solution.
